In your leader (TMID, 24 October) you wrote about the importance of after-sales service.

Unfortunately, this is something that local companies tend to ignore.

When you enter a shop you find a good number of salesmen who are ready to pounce on potential customers. They are quick to describe in detail all the gadgets of the item you show interest in buying, and are very good at convincing you that the product available in their shop is the best.

But after buying the product, the company loses interest in you. When it breaks down and you call for assistance, they tell you that the technician will only be available in two weeks time or even later.

This is not the kind of service one expects. I think the ratio of salesmen-technicians should be more balanced. You cannot have, say, 10 salesmen and three technicians. It would be more appropriate if companies invest heavily in technicians too.
