Two years ago, Master Group, through its wine producing company Camilleri Wines, made a commitment to support the local art and culture scene with the launch of its Supporting Culture and the Arts initiative, an effort not only to foster greater appreciation of art in general, but also to promote the close ties that exist between art and the culture of wine.

Thanks to this Supporting Culture and the Arts initiative, the company has assisted a great number of artists at the opening of their exhibitions by supplying them with their wines to serve during the event, thus ensuring the success of such social occasions.

Master Group has now announced a new collaboration with a major local cultural entity – the Manoel Theatre. Through the agreement recently signed between Master Group and the theatre, the group’s wine-producing company Camilleri Wines will be the exclusive provider of wines for VIP guests attending productions organised by the theatre. Productions organised by the Manoel Theatre currently account for around a third of all the productions staged at the theatre.

“In much the same way as we constantly promote our wines as an excellent and genuine Maltese product that everyone should be proud of, we are sustaining our tangible support to culture and the arts by recognising the importance of promoting all that is Maltese, including Maltese art,” explains Master Group general manager Louie Camilleri.

“Through our ongoing project with the them Supporting Culture and the Arts, we constantly associate ourselves and our name with the ongoing success of local cultural protagonists. The current Maltese performing art scene is currently enjoying a great deal of appreciation and likewise, we are aware of its extreme potential. This was what spurred Master Group to seriously undertake this collaboration, through which we will also become closer to Malta’s art scene.”

The Master Group’s belief in the potential of the local art scene also includes the field of visual arts. “We have already collaborated with and assisted a number of local artists by providing them with our wines during the opening of their shows. To date, countless artists have had our wines featured at their exhibition openings and this fills us with pride and satisfaction. Our collaboration with visual artists is, in fact, also being extended through this collaboration agreement with the Manoel Theatre.

“Artists who hold their exhibition in the courtyard of the theatre will also be offered the option of choosing our wines for their opening. Our philosophy is ultimately very much based on win-win situations, and our initiative Supporting Culture and the Arts is

definitely one of them,” Mr Camilleri concluded.
