Alex Borg was bundled out of the Malta Cup yesterday when in the first qualifying round, he narrowly lost to Alfie Burden 5-4.

Had Borg won, he would have qualified to meet Joe Delaney in the second qualifying round.

Meanwhile, Tony Drago will be meeting Lee Spick in the second qualifying round, but this match and other possible qualifying round games will be played before the final stages in Malta.

Spick yesterday beat Issara Kachaiwong 5-4 to set the match with Drago. The winner of this clash will meet John Parrott in the third round. The winner of that match will then have to face Michael Holt in the Last 48. The next opponent will be Ronnie O'Sullivan in the Last 32.
