Gharghur gained their third win of the season to maintain the pressure on leaders Gzira United.
Ghaxaq were dominated throughout the 90 minutes. Gharghur went close early on through efforts by Ludvic Bartolo and Wayne Mallia with Ghaxaq responding in the 39th minute when Bjorn Dalli was denied by an excellent save by Gharghur’s custodian George Edwards.
Gharghur broke the deadlock early in the second half through Wayne Mallia who beat Edwards with a low shot.
Gharghur increased their lead in the 53rd minute as Clifford Mifsud’s well-taken corner-kick was headed in by Lawrence Vella.
Gharghur managed to add a third goal in injury time through their best player, Lawrence Vella.
Kirkop vs Gzira 2-3
This win means that Gzira United have now overtaken Kalkara, Sirens and Gharghur as they are now sole leaders. Kirkop lost their unbeaten record in a match they shared for long stretches.
After only four minutes Gzira broke the deadlock. Owen Spiteri hitting home following a cornerkick action.
Kirkop drew level through another free-kick which was this time taken by Alan Deidun.
Gzira regained the lead in the 42nd minute once again through Owen Spiteri.
Gzira added a third goal in the 70th minute through Claude Grech.
In the 85th minute Kirkop reduced the gap through Daniel Scicluna following a well-taken free-kick by Chris Farrugia.
Siggiewi vs Attard 1-3
Attard recovered from three successive defeats as they gained their first points of the season with Siggiewi suffering their third defeat of the season.
In the 39th minute Siggiewi’s captain Pierre Spiteri hit just wide with a low shot but a minute before the break the same player put his team ahead when he beat Formosa from close-range.
Three minutes into the second-half Attard were back on level terms with Clayton Axisa crossing for Clive Lanzon to hit home from close range.
On 62 minutes Attard took the lead with a fine header by Mark Saliba with Siggiewi going close through a Pierre Spiteri free-kick which went inches high over the bar.
Spiteri was again close with a shot which was saved by Formosa and on another occasion a volley by Eman Ciappara hit the post.
In the 90th minute Attard sealed the issue with a third goal scored by Clive Lanzon.

Pembroke vs Zurrieq 0-1
Zurrieq did most of the attacking throughout the 90 minutes and were worthy winners with Michael Abdilla obtaining the winning goal during the second half.
Zurrieq dictated the run of play throughout the first 45 minutes and in the 15th minute a Robert Bajada crosshot was saved with difficulty by Debattista.
Seconds later Pembroke’s striker Carlo Leonardi was denied by a fine save by Azzopardi and on 21 minutes Zurrieq went close through a Michael Abdilla free-kick.
Early on in the second-half Zurrieq were denied by Debattista off a Matthew Genuis dipper with Pembroke going close through Nicholas Aquilina.
Zurrieq broke the deadlock on the hour through Michael Abdilla following a personal effort and later on a Joe Lia volley just missed the target.
Pembroke’s late rally was well controlled by their opponents.
