The Marsa C.C have had a bad week and to top it all had to forfeit the Saturday game against Krishna C.C and now have lost the Victor Miller Memorial Trophy three to one with one game remaining next tomorrow.

During the week Marsa continued playing against Ashford C.C. On Tuesday Marsa won the toss and elected to bowl first. The Marsa bowlers bowled well with Martin Llewelyn and Gordon Hewitt taking three wickets each. Alan Swift also bowled well taking two wickets. Kevin Krishna and Wally Glynn took a wicket each. Marsa bowled Ashford out for a mere 159 runs. C.Genty-Nott top scoring with sixty runs not out. P.Frost, J.White, J.Swain and L.Cousins all made it too double figures but were not able to make big scores. John Grima took two catches and two stumpings for the Marsa side. The Marsa run chase started well with John Grima making thirty eight runs, Jim Towers nineteen runs and Robert Krishna seventeen runs. After these efforts the Marsa batsmen fell apart and lost the game only totaling 137 runs. Wendall Sebastian was the main wicket taker with three wickets.

On Thursday Ashford batted first and totaled 202 runs. C.Evans made forty three runs, C.White thirty nine and R. Ford top scored with fifty six runs. Alan Swift and Nowell Khosla both took two wickets each.

The Marsa reply started off disastrously losing three wickets for twenty eight runs. John Grima showed great resistance and made sixty three runs but had no help from other batsmen. Marsa totaled 152 runs. For Ashford three bowlers Lambert, Jackman and C. Evans all took two wickets each.

On Friday Marsa won the toss and elected too bat first to change the batting rut the team was in. Finally some sensible batting surfaced with Nowel Khosla making a century including nine fours. Mark G.Sacco also batted well making sixty one runs.

In total Marsa totaled the highest score so far in the competitions of 230 runs and were very confident in winning the game. Ashford had a female cricketer playing, Beth Evans who took the prize wicket of Mike Caruana. This confidence was on an even higher note when two wickets were taken for twenty runs. Wendall Sebastian strolled to the crease for the visitors (who in his two previous innings had scored six and seven runs) and showed a batting exhibition which will be remembered for a long time. He hit fifteen fours and eight sixes on the way to scoring one hundred and sixty three runs not out. More incredibly he made this score in twenty overs and the Marsa score was reached in the twenty sixth over. Marsa lost the series 4 nil.
