Massimo Cremona has kept his position as number One player in the World for the second consecutive month with 3184.88points. He has also increasing his advantage on second placed Verhagen of Holland who now has 2919.50points. Third place is occupied by Portuguese Guimares with 2319.50points.
The World Rankings for the month of October were issued by the International Federation – FISTF.
Other Maltese players in the Top 50 of the ranking list, are Joseph Mifsud in 9th position with 1152.00pts, Hansel Mallia 16th with 999.75pts, and Mark Guaci 32nd place with 648.75pts.
Coppa Italia
The Coppa Italia reserved for clubs took place the past weekend in Chainciano Terme in Toscana.
The top 16 Italian clubs took part in one single group played on three rounds on a Swiss system format.
In the first round, Cremona’s Perugia faced Napoli where they shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. In the second round Perugia easily beat Bari 4-0 and in the third and final round they beat Milan 2-1 to advance.
In the quarter final Perugia beat Bologna 2-0, while in the semi-final they beat again Milan 3-1 to move through the final.
In the final they again faced Napoli, a repetition of the Champions League final the previous week in Lisbon. Napoli again emerged winners 2-1 thus claiming the Coppa Italia.
