Sliema Hotsticks Hockey Club presented their main sponsor for season 2006/07 - BDO Attard Buttigieg Psaila & Co recently at Luciano’s Restaurant in Valletta. The club also announced a partnership agreement with ActiveZone Gym.

BDO Attard Buttigieg Psaila & Co. is a member firm of BDO International, a worldwide network of public accounting firms called BDO Member Firms, serving international clients. Each Member Firm is an independent legal entity in its own country. BDO Member Firms operate in more than 100 countries and provide accounting and auditing, tax and consultancy services on a globally integrated basis with over 590 offices world wide.

BDO International is also one of the FIH’s (International Hockey Federation - official global partners.

The brand new ActiveZone Gym opened its doors in April 2006 making is the latest gym/health centre to hit our shores. Situated near the G.F.Abela Junior College in Msida, ActiveZone is placed right in the heart of Malta making it easy to reach and enjoy its state-of-the-art facilities.

With their professional staff, ActiveZone will be helping Sliema Hotsticks senior players in their training programme leading up to the Cup Winners Challenge which Sliema Hs will be hosting at the Kordin Hockey Complex in April 2007.

On their part Sliema Hs will be promoting the Gym during the tournament as well as throughout the hockey community.

Speaking at the presentation, Sliema Hs President, Mario Lentini and Information and Communication Officer Steve Cachia, thanked the sponsors and remarked that for clubs like Sliema Hs, who participate in so called ‘minor’ sports like hockey, sponsorships like these are of great help.

Mr Alan Pace, who together with Mr Martin Farrugia, represented ActiveZone Gym said that he was impressed by how organized the Club was while Mr John Psaila, who was present together with Mr Ray Bonello on behalf of BDO Attard Buttigieg Psaila & Co, pointed out the strong links that BDO had with world hockey and the enthusiasm with which this agreement had been received at Head Office.

Both Mr Pace and Mr Psaila augured the best of luck to the club which couldn’t have got off to a better start to the season winning the first honour up for grabs, the Super Cup.

For the coming season all the club teams will be known as BDO Hs.
