Duncan Pisani has qualified for the final stages of the Swiss Open when in group one he managed to beat two Swiss players.

First he overcame Patrick Müller 2-0 and then he beat Switzerland’s no 9 player Peter Galie by the same scoreline. Pisani drew 1-1 with Walter Bachmann and lost 0-2 to world no 16 player Mark King. Pisani lost his first frame to Mark King on the blue. Pisani will now meet Ricky Walden, the world’s no 37 and Swiss open champion in the last 32.

Thurston Grixti ,who had a very tough group, also managed three positive results but failed to qualify for the final stages by only one frame.

In his first game Grixti crushed Switzerland’s no 4 Marcel Müller 2-0 (64-19, 60-12). This was Grixti’s first win in a professional tournament. Grixti drew his second match 1-1 with Reto Pignatelli and then lost to two professional players, first to Irishman Richard McHugh and then to Adam Davies (world’s no 78 last year) by the identical score of 0-2.

Thurston Grixti’s last game against Oscar Medela (Switzerland’s no 3 player) was a decisive match for qualifying to the final stages. Grixti needed a win but could only draw 1-1.
