A quarry worker was seriously injured yesterday, but was not placed on the critical list, after he was buried by sand that was being loaded onto a truck in Naxxar.

In a statement, the police said that the 48-year-old from Attard was loading the vehicle in a Naxxar quarry at about 7.30am when, for some reason, sand fell out of the vehicle and partially buried him.

He was rushed to St Luke’s Hospital for treatment where doctors certified that, while he was seriously injured, his condition was not critical.

The police are investigating.
