The Gozitans recovered from three successive defeats as they played their best match of the season with the Rangers suffering their first defeat.
Zebbug gained the initiative during the first half but the Gozitans created the best opportunities. Zebbug were close after 12 minutes through George Saliba with the Gozitans twice going close through John Camilleri and Charles Mercieca.
Zebbug hit the crossbar through a strong shot by Keith Farrugia and at the other end a Jason Portelli free-kick just missed the target.
The Rangers responded through a Josef Felice attempt but it was the Gozitans who opened the score in the 43rd minute as Mark Formosa crossed for John Camilleri to beat Attard from close-range.
In the 55th minute Gozo striker John Camilleri squandered an easy opportunity and later on his team mate Charles Mercieca shot wide when all alone in front of goal.
Zebbug went close through Albert Ciantar but in the 75th minute the same player handled the ball in his own penalty area with the Gozitans gaining a penalty, scored by Jason Portelli to make it 2-0.
Barely two minutes later the Rangers reduced the arrears through a penalty given for a foul on Ciantar and duly converted by George Saliba.
The Gozitan defender Michael Vella received a second yellow card for prolonged protests and was sent off. Despite this setback it was Gozo who managed to increase their lead through two late goals scored by John Camilleri (88th minute) and Frankie Camilleri (90th minute).

Gudja-B’Bugia SP 0-4
Edward Darmanin’s team B’ Bugia St Peter’s played their best match of the season as they outclassed Gudja United, the latter losing their unbeaten record.
After just three minutes B’Bugia’s keeper Fardell denied Gudja off a Louis Falzon free-kick.
Two minutes later Gudja’s striker Jesmond Micallef hit the crossbar with a close-range shot. B’Bugia responded through a dangerous Barbara free-kick.
On 25 minutes B’Bugia broke the deadlock with Barbara crossing for Stephen Borg to hit home from close-range. B’Bugia were now in control and they were denied on three occasions through superb saves by Glen Zammit.
Just before the interval B’Bugia scored a second goal with James Galea providing the pass for Stephen Borg to beat Zammit with a low shot.
After the change of ends B’Bugia remained the better team and after hitting the crossbar in the 52nd minute through James Galea, they made it 3-0 in the 72nd minute through Vince Camilleri from the penalty spot.
In the 84th minute Ronnie Celeste scored a fourth goal with an excellent shot.
