St Martin’s Institute of Information Technology, in collaboration with the University of London’s Goldsmith College, is organising a half-day seminar tomorrow at St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity, Valletta from 9.30am to 1pm.
This seminar is a unique opportunity for all those involved in national heritage and the creative arts, as well as those graduate students seeking further study and research opportunities in the area, to listen to the expertise of a team of professors from Goldsmith’s College.
The seminar will discuss research, development and innovation in computing, the New Media and the application of information technology to Malta’s cultural heritage and beyond.
Prof. Robert Zimmer will talk about meta-data and non linear narration of film production. Prof. Frederic Fol Leymerie will discuss digital archeology, and applications to cultural heritage, medical and health sectors, and the environment.
Prof. William Lathan will talk about generative art, games and the special effects in TV and film, while Professor Stefan Rueger will discuss the multimedia DB indexing image, video, sound and text, as well as textiles and museums collections.
David Spiteri Gingell, chairman of MCST will give an introductory speech regarding the initiatives being undertaken by the Government of Malta with respect to Research & Innovation.
