You have taken parents to task in your leader The golden rule (TMID, 11 November). You have warned them to exercise discipline over their children if they do not want to “lose” them later on.

I believe that the parent that does not discipline a son or daughter is not fit to be called a parent. This is because a child that is not corrected if he or she does something wrong will grow up to believe that what he or she did was right.

As you rightly pointed out, the story of the boy who stole a sweet and was not reprimanded is the perfect example of what a parent should never do – condone wrongdoing.

Parents must be the first to lead by example.
