From Mr V. Spiteri

I called a local sports

equipment company recently and asked it to deliver a treadmill machine to my home. I knew the particular one I wanted after checking with their website. Treadmills are sold and graded by the maximum weight they can handle.

Unfortunately, this particular company insisted that I go to its shop. I explained that I would be paying cash on delivery of the particular model I wanted to suit my weight. This company is located a third of a kilometre from my residence, but it would not deliver.

On the same day and at the same hour, I ordered a TV set on-line from a Bow (London) company to be delivered to my daughter in Kingston, Surrey.

They gladly accepted my order, and assured me that delivery would be the same day; and it was.

Is there a lesson to be learnt by our entrepreneurs somewhere?

Victor Spiteri
