Emirates, an established supporter of sport around the world, entered the high-profile Formula One circuit, signing on as partner of Team McLaren Mercedes in March 2006.

"Following the signing of this agreement last March, Emirates and the McLaren F1 Club (Malta) discussed possible opportunities for the club in Malta. The occasion arose when Emirates created the Team McLaren Mercedes MP4/20 Formula One replica show car and we started negotiations in flying it over to Malta," said Paul Fleri Soler, Emirates Manager for Malta and Cyprus.

"This is a very special occasion for the McLaren F1 Club (Malta) to be able to bring to Malta the Emirates show car of the Team McLaren F1 car. Thanks to Emirates our members are very enthusiastic about this visit," said Penelope Ciangura, chairperson of the McLaren F1 Club (Malta)

The MP4/20 Formula One car took to the track for the first time on the 24 January 2005 at the Circuit de Catalunya, outside Barcelona, Spain, where regular driver Kimi Raikkonen took to the wheel.

The McLaren F1 car will be travelling to Malta on an Emirates Airbus A330-200 from Dubai on Wednesday 29 November.
