The top two teams in this UEFA Mini-tournament held in Malta over the past week registered a goalless draw in an entertaining encounter played at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

In a match ably controlled by the Portuguese referee, Neves Moreira De Sousa, neither side could assert any real scoring chances with the respective defences well on top.

By virtue of this result, Italy (closely monitored by the well-known former World Cup and Fiorentina star midfielder Giancarlo Antognoni from the stands) topped the Group but the Serbs also qualified for the Under-17 Championship finals early next year.

Oliver Spiteri retained the same formation for this match with the exception of young Hibernians goalkeeper Daniel Balzan who replaced Incorvaja for his UEFA debut. The match was played concurrently with the other match this time at the Hibernians Ground.

The Maltese held the upper hand throughout but found it hard to penetrate a disciplined Andorra rearguard playing 5-4-1 in the first half.

A heavy downpour early in the second period did not dampen the Maltese spirits. They resiliently kept up the pressure and were rewarded with a fine headed goal by hard-working striker Miguel Ciantar from a fine Mark Scerri cross on 69 minutes.

With the deadlock broken, Mark Scerri himself and Jonathan Xerri both missed easy chances to increase Malta's tally towards the end.
