Sterling Jewellers is celebrating its 110th anniversary with a sparkling new collection of Sterling diamonds, designed in-house, that have been unveiled at its 10th annual exhibition.

During this exhibition, being held at Le Meridien Phoenicia Hotel, Floriana until 3 December, Sterling Jewellers are showcasing this brand new collection. “We are always striving to design unique pieces in a world where diamonds are constantly crying out for a woman’s attention through shop windows,” said Sterling Jewellers chairman Alfred Fenech.

Sterling’s designs were brought to life by craftsmen in Italy and each piece is laser-inscribed and will be on sale at the exhibition.

Diamonds have earned the reputation of being every woman’s best friend, and considering that these gems were born 3.4 billion years ago, 150 miles below the earth’s surface, it is easy to understand why they are so special. Discovered and captured by man, diamonds have decorated kings, inspired poets and delighted those who have acquired their eternal beauty.

Diamonds set into a ring – symbolising the cycle of life passed down from generation to generation – are a true link between the past, the present and the future. But this is not just an exhibition of diamonds:

collections of other precious stones will be vying for attention, alongside gold and silver pieces, watches and new jewellery collections.

One collection that will surely arouse interest is the Calgaro brand, which incorporates textiles of pure value, an exuberance of colours, an ultimate degree of technology and, most of all, disarming beauty. Calgaro is a jewel in both silver and gold – a brand with its own identity.

This year’s highlight is Pasquale Bruni’s diamond collection entitled Prato Fiorito, unique in its handcrafting for its ability to sensuously move to the shape of the body, thanks to its particular mobility. Sterling is proud to present this collection, which was purposely designed for Simona Ventura, the famous Italian TV celebrity, reflecting her dynamic personality. This is an exclusive chance to view the brand new jewellery.

Salvini is another brand well-known for its high quality and the exceptional design of its jewellery. The new face for Salvini is the world famous actress Sharon Stone. She was chosen because she represents the contemporary intelligent woman, as well as for her beauty and elegance. What better fusion of elements can be found to emphasise the beauty of the star and the brilliance of the jewellery by Salvini?

Other collections include Nanis, a brand that incorporates new designs with gold and diamonds, and an interesting collection with flower and animals pendants. The exhibition will include a special choice of jewellery for all ages, as well as a wide selection of watches, from Calvin Klein, and Adidas, to Hugo Boss, Tissot, Corum, Versace and other favourites such as Emporio Armani and Gucci.

This year, Sterling is also offering the public the chance to exchange old gold pieces, which have been locked away and are no longer worn, for new gold. “This is an exhibition for everyone and we feel it provides the perfect opportunity to do a spot of early Christmas shopping. Whatever your budget, we can find the right gift,” said Mr Fenech.

Popular television personality Moira Delia is the ambassador of this year’s exhibition. The exhibition is under the patronage of Mrs Fenech Adami and is in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund. Those who attend are in with a chance of winning a diamond trilogy ring, as well as other prizes. Who knows, maybe your Christmas shopping may not exceed your budget after all.

Sterling, which is run by the untiring Fenech family, has gone from strength to strength over the years and today can boast 25 outlets spread across Malta and Gozo. The end of the exhibition will mark the opening of another brand new Sterling Jewellers outlet in the confines of the Cornerstone Complex in Mosta, to provide loyal customers greater convenience.

“Celebrating 110 years is an important milestone for our company. We will continue to strive towards excellent customer care and innovative trends in the world of jewellery,” said Mr Fenech.

The exhibition is open from 10am to 10pm every day until 3 December and admission is free.
