Local councils should be queuing up at the Malta Environment and Planning Authority offices to apply for funds with which they could build walls to surround undeveloped property in their locality.

The government has announced that they can now do so, and once the owners of such properties decide to develop their plots, local councils could make some money from the interest that will have accumulated.

Malta is dotted with such undeveloped plots, some of which are in the heart of towns and villages, creating a big eyesore.

These walls will make things look better, for sure.

Local councils cannot sit back and wait for others to do things for them. They should immediately take the cue to improve their area.
