Maltese women dominated the first day of the Malta Challange Marathon, organised over three days.

The first race was held yesterday between Rabat and Dingli, with the Maltese women dominating their category with three maltese athletes in the first three places.

First placed was Carol Walsh who finished with a time of 44 minutes and 20 seconds.

Second placed was Carmen Hili who clocked 47.01 and Doreen Vella finished the race in 47 minutes and 51 seconds.

In the men’s category, Russian Konstantin Kochkin won in 37 minutes and 58 seconds.

Second placed was David Mansbridge clocking 39 minutes and nine seconds.

Another Russian, Stanislav Terentiev finished in third place clocking 39 minutes and 41 seconds.

The second stage will be held this morning, with the challange marathom coming to an end tomorrow morning.
