Konstantin Kochin of Team Russia maintained his overall top place to win the Malta Challenge Marathon on the third and final day of the event yesterday.
Kochin clocked an overall time of 2 hours 24 minutes and 41 seconds to finish first ahead of second placed David Mansbridge of England’s Telford AC who had an overall time of two hours 34 minutes and 29 seconds.Third was another Russian, Stanislav Terentiev, who registered a time of two hours 35 minutes and nine seconds.
The first Maltese runner in was Drew Lang of St Patrick’s AC who registered a time of 2 hours 36 minutes and 23 seconds.
In the women’s sector, Carol Walsh of Athleta Pembroke AC was first overall in a time of two hours 55 minutes and 27 seconds. Second was Doreen Vella of Zurrieq Wolves AC in three hours 1.10 minutes and third Carmen Hili of St Patrick’s AC in 3 hours 4.06 minutes.
