After a very successful national competition last month, the IFBB-Malta took part in two major competitions, one in the Czech Republic and the other in Agrigento, Sicily.

The first competition was the 60th IFBB Men’s World Amateur Bodybuilding and Classic Bodybuilding championships in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

Malta was represented by Ralph Decelis, Dominic Schieda, Kenneth Camilleri and Joseph Galea. Dominic Schieda placed 13th in his category of 85-90kg. As this event is a world championship with 62 countries taking part from all over the world, Schieda’s placing is a tremendous result, as Malta have not had a bodybuilder placed so well since 1977.

The World Juniors and Masters Bodybuilding, Fitness & Body Fitness Championships took place earlier this month. Malta was represented by Mario Pace, Samuel Ghiller, Disma Azzopardi and Alistair Rizzo.

Here some of the best bodybuilders in the world and in Europe took part.

In this competition Mario Pace placed an impressive 11th in the Men Masters 50-59 years open. This is a very impressive result as it is the first time Malta has taken part in the over-50 class.

In the same category Samuel Ghiller placed 15th. Alistair Rizzo placed 12th in the Juniors 75kg category.

Mario Pace, President of IFBB-Malta, was very satisfied with these results. “It was not an easy task taking part in these two world championships but the results prove that the IFBB-Malta is moving in the right direction. After these positive results, it gives us the courage to move forward and try to take part in as many international contests possible. We must encourage our athletes to continue working hard in such a wonderful sport.”
