This may be described as an open letter to a gentleman from Malta who gave my wife shelter after a bad car crash near Xlendi, Gozo. As the first person on the scene, he stopped and simply asked if he could help by informing the police and rescue services to tow away both cars.
My car had crashed into a pick-up truck parked on the left-hand side in front of the owner’s house. Without asking any questions, this man put the luggage, as well as Heidi, into his car and gave us a lift to the pre-notified Hotel Serena in Xlendi, where we were staying.
I could not even say thank you, because he left so quickly. There were also other people who, hearing the crash, offered their help.
The police came, the reports were made and the cars were towed away, all in a relaxed manner despite the fact that it was a Saturday afternoon.
We owe a big debt to the man who came to our aid.
