The visit by Milan to Malta early next year is still to be confirmed, Milan Channel reported on Monday night.

Reports have said that Milan will be visiting Malta for a training camp between 2 and 8 January – during the traditional winter break in the Italian league – and will also be playing against Birkirkara.

But Milan Channel director Mauro Suma on Monday night said that the club is still evaluating a number of possibilities for the training camp.

Replying to a number of emails sent in by Maltese Milan supporters to Milan Channel, asking for more details about the visit, Mr Suma said that the club is still to decide whether the training camp will be held and where.

Apart from Malta, Milan are also considering taking the players to the Canary Islands, Mr Suma said.

Milan are looking for countries with a mild climate, even in winter, which would be beneficial to their players to prepare themselves for the second part of the season.

Milan’s pre-season training camp was disrupted because they were “relegated” from second to third place in the league, and this meant that they had to take part in the preliminary round of the Champions League in mid-August.

This has had a negative impact on the players, many of whom are off form or injured. Last Sunday, against Cagliari, Milan had nine players out injured, and coach Ancelotti had to call three youth players to make up the squad.
