Malta striker Michael Mifsud has not yet decided on his future.

His agent, Mark Taylor, told skysports.com that last Sunday’s report in the News of the World contained a number of inaccuracies, among which was a claim by Mifsud himself that he would soon be accepting an offer from Sheffield United.

That report quoted Mifsud as saying: “They (Sheffield United) gave me 10 days to consider the offer but there’s not really much to think about.”

Taylor said: “Michael has not made any sort of comment that has been attributed to him, and as we said there are a number of inaccuracies in the report. There are a number of clubs looking at him. And that does not mean there are only English clubs in the queue. There are also some European clubs who have shown interest.”

Taylor, however, did not make any mention of the other clubs who have shown an interest, although earlier reports showed that Bolton, Norwich and Coventry had also made enquiries with his current club Lillestrom of Norway.

Mifsud will shortly be out of contract at Lillestrom. The Norwegian club had tried to keep him by offering a new deal, but Mifsud turned down their offer as he wishes to move to a bigger league.

Meanwhile BBC Sport said yesterday that Sheffield United have announced that they are to propose to raise £10m in time for boss Neil Warnock to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window.

Up to £5m would be used to invest in new players from the fund-raising.

Another website, TEAMtalk.com, said money raised will be given to club boss Neil Warnock in the January transfer window as United – currently 16th in the Premiership – attempt to avoid relegation in their first season back in the top flight.
