The Malta Environment & Planning Authority (MEPA) determined 625 applications in November and received 673 new applications. The net pending caseload at the end of the month was 4,631.
During November the Authority processed 53 notifications of development, which, according to the Development Notification Order 2001, do not require a formal application.
During the same month, 95 Stop and Enforcement notices were issued, 71 in Malta and 24 in Gozo.
In November 2006, 84 enforcement cases were closed, 47 in Malta and 37 in Gozo. 53 enforcement cases were sanctioned by the issue of a sanctionable permit. Another 26 cases were resolved since owners decided to remove illegal development and comply with enforcement notice. During the same month five cases were withdrawn by MEPA.
16 cases received at complaints office were resolved without the need of enforcement action, since owners complied with instructions given by MEPA Enforcement Officers.
