“Experience the Space” is an open day event that will be held at the Malta Fairs and Convention Centre, Ta’ Qali on Wednesday, a public holiday.

The aim of this event is to give the general public the opportunity to see and experience the new infrastructure set up at Ta’ Qali. The open day will feature two principal items, namely a motorbike stunt show and a spectacular installation by artist Pierre Portelli.

Xtremetrials is a stunt show featuring two young riders and a professional animator, who will give a unique performance on a stunt track brought over from the UK specifically for this show.

Martin Crosswaite and Dan Clark, assisted by animator David Wayne Kershaw, will perform jumps up vertical walls, amazing “drop offs”, a full range of freestyle tricks, some of which can only be attempted by a handful of riders throughout the world, back and front wheelies, plus a load of other spectacular stunts which, combined with the showmanship and humour the show offers, will leave the audience gobsmacked.

The show last 40 minutes. Four shows will be held at 11am, 2.30pm, 3.30pm and 4.30pm. Martin and Dan, together with their bikes, have also featured in concerts with Britney Spears and Shakira!

After experiencing the roars and stunts of motorbike flare, which use space horizontally, one can also experience the vertical use of space! Artist Pierre Portelli is setting up an impressive sculptural installation – Vertigo. In the artist’s words Vertigo’s concept is to explore man’s quest for achievement and reach new heights. It also projects and defines space through the physical height of the structure within an enclosure.
