Local international FIBA basketball referee, Bernard Vassallo will, for the third time this season, taste European action after receiving a nomination from FIBA in the last days.

In fact, Vassallo was nominated to control the FIBA EuroLeague match in Istanbul, Turkey between the respective Turkish and French champions, Fenerbache and USVO Olympique, next Thursday.

Turkish basketball giants Fenerbache are presently in joint second place in Group C, composed of six teams, together with Valencia (Spain), with four wins and two losses. USVO trail behind in Group C, three points adrift, and Thursday’s encounter in Turkey is probably their last chance to keep their qualifying chances (to the last 16 in the EuroLeague) alive, with three games to go in the group stage.

Vassallo will referee this encounter, to be played in the Caferaga Hall in Istanbul, together with Bulgarian official Miroslav Tomov whilst Serbian Tomislav Jovancic will be the FIBA commissioner.
