An Apolitical Christmas

Malta Independent Wednesday, 13 December 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The Christmas festivities are with us and, thank God, it will not be a political Christmas, for once.

I think that the government did well in bringing forward the budget presentation and subsequent debate to October and early November.

In this way, the political debate in the country had dwindled by the time December started and we can celebrate Christmas in peace

Of course, one cannot expect politics to stop, and the political parties are still organising their events.

But I believe the fact that the budget is no longer on the cards will be of benefit to Malta as a whole.

It has no doubt helped people plan what they will spend during the Christmas festivities.
