No fewer than 54 presidential pardons have been granted so far this year, Justice and Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg told Labour MP Adrian Vassallo.

Of these, 49 regarded court fines concerning VAT returns not handed in or handed in late, two regarded general and perpetual interdictions, one regarded a driving licence suspension, one regarded a decrease in the operation of a suspended sentence and one regarded a court sentence where the wrong person was arraigned.

Indecency Charges

The total of persons arraigned on indecency charges so far this year is 94: 49 men and 45 women.

The charges against them included the charge of committing indecent acts in public. Their age varied from 15 to 72 years, Dr Borg told Dr Vassallo.

ADT planning manager on early retirement

The planning manager within ADT has taken early retirement for personal reasons, Urban Development and Roads Minister Jesmond Mugliett told Labour MP Carmelo Abela.

The planning manager was due to end working next October but he will now stop on 3 January after coming to an agreement regarding a settlement amounting to Lm10,000, the minister said.
