Luqa SA-Fgura 0-2

Fgura notched their fifth win from six matches as they shrugged off Luqa’s stiff challenge with two goals scored by Carl Camilleri and Silvano Pace in the final ten minutes. The first-half was a balanced affair but in the second half, Fgura dominated though they found it hard to break down Luqa’s defensive.

Gzira-Attard 2-0

A first-half goal scored by Baldassare Borg and a second-half strike by Owen Spiteri were enough for Gzira United to gain an important win over Attard who once again disappointed their followers. The Maroons were the better side throughout the first period and deserved their 1-0 lead.

The second period was balanced but it was Gzira who sealed the issue in the 71st minute through another goal scored by Owen Spiteri.

Zurrieq-Gharghur 1-1

Zurrieq deserved something better from a match they dictated for long stretches with Gharghur’s opening goal bringing about hot protests by the Zurrieq players as there was a clear handling infringement by Christian Glass.

Gharghur broke the deadlock on 15 minutes as Matthew Coleiro’s corner-kick was fisted into the net by Christian Glass. Despite the hot protests, the point was allowed to stand.

Two minutes into injury-time Matthew Genuis scored a merited equaliser for Zurrieq.

Sirens-Ghaxaq 2-1

A goal scored by Adrian Galea in the final moments of the match earned leaders Sirens a hard-earned win over Ghaxaq.

Sirens consolidated their first position as they have maximum points from seven matches.

Ghaxaq took a surprise lead after nine minutes through Christian Cristiano. But Ryan Theuma managed to equalise for the leaders following a personal effort.

When the match seemed heading towards a one-all draw, Sirens’ striker Adrian Galea pounced on a mistake by Celeste to head the ball home for a 2-1 final scoreline.

Ta’ Xbiex-Siggiewi 1-6

Siggiewi notched their third win of the season as they completely dominated bottom team Ta’ Xbiex from start to finish.

Pierre Spiteri 3, Eman Ciappara 2 and Josef Micallef scored Siggiewi’s goals while Glen Azzopardi scored the only goal for Ta’ Xbiex.

Qrendi-Pembroke 1-1

Pembroke managed to hold on to a precious and merited point against Qrendi who failed to keep in touch with leaders Sirens.

Just before the break Pembroke took the lead with Carlo Leonardi beating Camilleri following a quick counter-attack.

In the 60th minute Qrendi made it one-all as a long-range shot by Kevin Naudi was not controlled by Pembroke’s keeper Debattista and the ball finished at the back of the net.
