Attraction For visitors on cruise liners

Malta Independent Friday, 15 December 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 21 years ago

As from this month, an exclusive one-hour show about the Great Siege will be organised for tourists on board cruise liners that stop at the Grand Harbour.

Knights of Malta 1565 – The Show, which includes a 50-strong cast and eight horses, is a spectacle that will be organised throughout the year by MK Leisure in collaboration with VISET plc.

Tourism and Culture Minister Francis Zammit Dimech, who was present for a special viewing of this show, said re-enactments such as this one are helping to improve the tourist product being offered in Malta.

Dr Zammit Dimech said a number of re-enactments in forts and cities around the bastions have already been launched by the events section within the ministry. Moreover, Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna had also launched re-enactments of the British period in a number of forts built during the British military era in Malta.

The performance will be held at the site previously taken up by the old power station – the PowerHouse Theatre that has been restored as part of the Cruise Liner Passenger Terminal project.
