Problems Solved… but others remain – General Workers Union

Malta Independent Saturday, 16 December 2006, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Several of the problems that existed between the General Workers Union and the Health Division on the security guards at St Luke’s Hospital have been resolved, the union said in a statement yesterday.

The union added one particular issue however has not been sorted out, and consequently the security guards are still ordered not to accept work outside hospital unless it is based on whole regular shifts.

The union is also still in an industrial dispute with the division regarding hospital auxiliaries. The union said the problem arose after a contract for cleaning work at St Luke’s Hospital was awarded.

An agreement that had been reached with the authorities has still not been implemented, and this is pushing the union to issue further directives to its members.
