With reference to your editorial on children attending mass, (Making Mass more appealing, TMID, 11 December) I would like to point out that there is a Mass at 11.30am every Sunday at Paceville, which is well attended by many young couples with young children.
For at least these last five or six years, the children present have been taken aside during the homily and the Gospel is explained to them in a simple way so that they can understand it properly.
This also gives a chance to the parents and to Fr Hilary to concentrate on the reflection of the Word of God and it has proved to be the best way for all concerned.
I take this opportunity to thank Mary Runza, Suzanne Gabaretta and Anna Rapa who take care of the children during the homily and give such a caring service to the little ones.
