So John Dalli MP was quoted as saying in TMIS (3 December) following the court sentence imposed on Joe Zahra in connection with the Mater Dei tender. Mr Dalli is insisting on being given an apology and have the damage repaired following allegations that had been made in his regard.

While I sympathise with Mr Dalli, it seems that it is not only politicians who have to go through such an unfortunate incidence of higher authorities first slinging mud, even publicly, and then failing to either apologise or repair the damage they have caused. This notwithstanding that it is later clear that the facts proved otherwise. No amount of prodding and reminding can apparently make them change their decisions. I know this from very personal experience.

One often reads of such bodies seeking and asking for a public apology for such and such an act. However, how willing are we all to first make our own apologies?

There is certainly dissatisfaction in this country in this regard.
