This year’s Christmas season is expected to be a wet one as a look at weather forecasts suggest these year’s should be better enjoyed at home.

The weather will improve marginally on Christmas Day as eastern winds persist and increase in force, from rather strong to strong. Regular showers are to be expected, while the temperature will reach a high of 16 degrees celsius.

A definite improvement will be expected on Boxing Day as clouds start to recede to a state of partly cloudy and the probability of showers gets slimmer. The temperature will reach a high of 17 degrees celsius while the northeast winds will be moderate to rather strong.

Things are much worse in Europe, especially England as the heavy fog which has blanketed Heathrow since Wednesday resulted in the cancellation of more than 300 flights at the same airport.

The closure of the airport is expected to affect around 40,000 people. Controllers said although weather conditions have improved slightly, it would be unlikely restrictions on flights will be lifted until today.
