In his last message as Archbishop of Malta, Mgr Joseph Mercieca emphasises the importance of preserving not just the faith but also the family, for emmigrants.
Once away from Malta, Mgr Mercieca writes, they face many difficulties – long distances separate them from their relatives, and new complexities arise such as new relationships, new values and cultures, and new loves or friendships – all of which may make a person forget his original roots.
