I refer to the letter dated TMID, 21 December by John Borg with the same title regarding the notice board the San Gwann local council placed just in front of the cart ruts in Mensija Road.

I must inform our reader that this decision was taken way back in the third council legislation with a unanimous decision, when I as a councillor proposed to erect an information board in all existing sites, but despite the rhetoric of the past council legislation for some reason they decided to scrap this proposal.

Actually now this decision makes part of the electoral programme announced by the new labour council during the last local elections in March 2006.

This programme of work we envisage for the coming three-year period includes our underground flour mill we have in Centawrja Square.

One of the seven underground mills constructed in Malta during 1954-1955 consists of an entrance tunnel, some 25 metres long leading into an enormous chamber.

This chamber was cut into three floors and housed the milling machinery by mechanical augers.

Both sites were devolved in the year 2000.

Meanwhile the local council is investing in a new website to give our viewers a sense of tourism value and will continue to do its best, to present viable and effective information, thus promoting Malta as a potential destination for tourists.
