In the deciding encounter for this year’s women APS Cup it was Aloysians who took the three points home to also claim the first trophy of the season. The match immediately was an uphill struggle for La Salle as Aloysians raced to open a good lead which they then kept till the end of the half.
The second half was a different story as La Salle stormed out in the opening minutes to close the gap down to only 1 goal. It was then that La Salle’s goalkeeper Dorianne Tabone got sent off after protesting excessively with the referee. After that it was again one way traffic as Aloysians once again started playing their best and managed to strike the very last goal through a brilliant shot from Brenda Camilleri, directly from a nine meter shot.
Referees for this match were John Falzon and Thomas Degiorgio.
There were another two matches played this weekend. La Salle Piatnik took away another three points in their APS Promotion league campaign.
The match did not offer much to those present at the University Sports Complex as there were a lot of mistakes from both sides, with La Salle in the end capitalizing their efforts better then Kavallieri Foster Clark.
In the third match out of the APS Boy’s league La Salle comfortably won their encounter against a weaker Kavallieri SMC side with a score line of 24 - 18.
