In the past two months, the Men’s Handball National team has been training regularly in view of the December friendly tournament that will be held in Cyprus.
Milos Stanislavjevic, the newly appointed coach, is putting all his efforts to build a valiant team to face the well experienced Cypriots.
The Malta team will feature many players hailing from LaSalle and Aloysians Handball Clubs. However, the team will be further strengthened by three other Maltese players who are currently playing abroad.
The team line up will be as follows:
La Salle: Gilson Mark, Ian Turban, Psaila Ian, Said Andrew, Aloysians: Mifsud Philip, Farrugia James, Mifsud Clint, Kavallieri: Zammit Dennis, Bonnici Orlando, D6: Tanti Joseph, Kerr Cumbo Renzo; Bologna Utd; France: Friggieri Jacques; Italy; Invernizzi Alec.
The Malta Handball Association, namely through the newly appointed team manager, Carl Chetcuti and Stanislavjevic himself, have been successful in attracting a number of sponsors to shed off some of the financial burdens from the Association for this tournament.
These are - Eurosport: Official technical sponsor, Sixth Rent a Car, Saquella, D-Vision, Attard Gilgio & Co. Lambretta Watches, P2M Ltd, St. James Hospital, Nara Camicie, Diverse, Bortex & Plush.
Albeit this initiative the MHA will be shouldering some of the travel costs, while the remaining expenses will be borne by the players themselves.
