The Playmobil FunPark swung open its doors yesterday morning as 150 lucky children rushed in for a special breakfast with Santa.

It has become traditional for Santa to be treated to a lavish feast at Playmobil after his rush of Christmas deliveries. Breakfast with Santa has become one of the milestones that is a reflection of the true spirit of Christmas.

This practice started in 2003, following the sad and tragic terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre, when Anna Agius, sales and marketing manager at Playmobil Malta felt that “there is too much sadness and we need to give some happiness back to the children”.

Each year, therefore, Playmobil creates an environment for Santa to relax and meet children in their own imaginary world of play.

The 150 lucky ones received a phone call on Boxing Day, when they were told they had won the chance to enjoy breakfast with Santa.

Santa’s surprise for this year’s edition of his traditional breakfast was the elaboration of one of Playmobil’s latest additions to its range – the fairytale sets. He invited a few of his favourite characters to join him and help him transport the children to their own magical land of make-believe.

As the fog cleared, around the ship’s cabin, a shrill voice piped up, “ahoy there” and there before the children’s wide eyes, was Hansel at the helm. Within minutes, Gretel, Cinderella, Snow White and a charming prince appeared coming out of the cabin and they then spent the rest of the morning mingling with the children.

Following a delicious English breakfast, one or two apples from Snow White and a good dose of fun, the children queued up to give Santa a cuddle, pick up their special Playmobil party bag and head home, undoubtedly cherishing the memories of their magical breakfast.
