MOC Changes name to Maltese Olympic Committee

The Malta Olympic Committee council has decided on a change of name – to the Maltese Olympic Committee.

A number of other amendments and addendas were also approved.

Further to the resignation of Magistrate Dr Antonio Mizzi from Director of Media and Public Relations from the MOC Executive and pursuant to the MOC statute, the Maltese Olympic Committee is receiving nominations to fill this position.

The duties for this position are defined in the MOC Statute as “Director of Media and Public Relations who will be responsible to project the right image of the MOC and to inform the public on all activities organised by the MOC. He will be responsible for all MOC publications and ancillary matters.”

According to the MOC statute, nominations for any post must be duly proposed by any one Association/Federation/Sports Union and seconded by another member Association/ Federation/Sport Union. The nominated candidate must signify his acceptance even if this is done by fax.

Together with the acceptance of the nomination, any candidate is to sign a declaration that he/she intends to attend at least 75% of the Executive meetings which are held on Thursdays between 6pm and 8.30pm. All nominations are to be acknowledged in writing.

The election to fill this vacancy will be held on Wednesday 24 January at 6pm at the main hall of the University Sports Complex. Applications, together with the acceptance from the candidate, have to reach the Secretary General of the MOC by not later than Saturday 13 January 2007, by not later than 1pm.
