Malta Labour Party secretary general Jason Micallef yesterday filed a libel suit against Nationalist Party television station Net TV over a news item carried in the 11 October new bulletin.

In his libel suit, Mr Micallef claimed that Net TV had lifted two sentences he had said at different times during a discussion programme on Super One Radio, edited them and broadcast them together, giving the impression that he had said both sentences together when in fact he had not.

Mr Micallef said Net TV broadcast the item containing false allegations aimed at tarnishing his reputation.

Dr Pawlu Lia signed the writ.
