The work on the Manwel Dimech Bridge started last month. Since then, I must say that the traffic flow on the Regional Road and the surrounding areas has never been any better. In fact, as a resident who lives close by, I really would not mind if the work had to take longer than scheduled.

Joking apart, it is true that since the work started, the flow in the area has been well under control and very smooth. The campaign that the Urban Development and Roads Ministry, together with the Malta Transport Authority embarked upon in the weeks preceding the start of the work, was well-prepared and comprehensive, giving drivers all the possible options for them to move from point A to point B without any trouble.

I drive through Regional Road every day and, in the past, it used to be a nightmare in the early morning and late afternoon. I was afraid that, while the work on the bridge is in progress, the confusion that would have reigned in the area would have made it impossible for me to arrive at work on time, unless I woke up an hour earlier than usual.

But this did not happen. As I said, traffic in the area is moving smoothly even during peak hours.

I cannot fail to mention the good work put in by the traffic policemen employed in the area. They are doing a good job indeed.
