Milan president Silvio Berlusconi is expected to attend next Tuesday’s match against Birkirkara at the Ta’ Qali national stadium.
Even vice-president Adriano Galliani is likely to be present for the match which is expected to attract a capacity 17,400 crowd.
Berlusconi, who is also the former Italian Prime Minister, now leader of the Opposition in Italy and leader of the political party Forza Italia, is expected to arrive sometime on Tuesday morning, while Galliani should be travelling on the same plane with the players after the match against Juventus.
The trip back to Malta is scheduled for Sunday morning. The group will be short of four World Cup players – Gilardino, Gattuso, Pirlo and Inzaghi – who will be in Rome on Monday to receive an award from the Italian president, for having formed part of the World Cup winning team. The four players are expected back in Malta on Monday evening and, according to Birkirkara president Victor Zammit, Milan have guaranteed their presence on the field of play on Tuesday, contrary to what has been said on Milan Channel.
