Eurosport will be hosting at least 12 Milan players, coach Carlo Ancelotti and some of their directors on Monday afternoon (5.15pm-6.45pm) at their outlet in Psaila Street, Birkirkara.
Manwel Peresso, chairman of Eurosport, exclusive representatives of the renowed firm adidas in Malta, made the announcement yesterday. He said the visit formed part of the sponsorship agreement entered into by the company with the local champions, on the occasion of Milan’s visit to Malta.
Through that agreement Eurosport were provided with a number of tickets by Birkirkara FC, part of which were to be sold from the outlet and the rest to be given as complimentaries, depending on some sales.
Mr Peresso announced that there was an overwhelming response from fans to buy tickets in fact, all were sold within two days.
As for the complimentaries, the company is now giving an opportunity to around 300 fans – on a first come first served basis – to meet these players, get their autographs and take some pictures with them at the premises.
To become eligible for a ticket, consumers must purchase Lm50 and over worth of equipment from the adidas brand stores or Eurosport outlets (Psaila Street, L-Iklin, Paola, Fgura, Bay Street).
The entrance ticket for the event will have a legal disclaimer at the back to ensure authenticity and abide with adidas recommended guide lines. This means that during the photo session, no one will be able to take any still or video images of the players. And also, any fan entering adidas/Eurosport in Psaila Street will only be able to take one live photo of any of the players present.
Maria Cristina Peresso, director of Michele Peresso Group, operators of Eurosport, said the company was aware that many might be disappointed, but they were obliged to follow the guidelines and added it was not possible to include more persons due to the time limit.
At the end of the event, the company will host a cocktail party in honour of the coach and players of AC Milan for which a delegation from Birkirkara FC and top Milan officials, as well as acting Prime Minister Dr Tonio Borg, among others, will also be in attendance.
