As already announced the Malta Cup 2007, the third in the series, is being held at the Hilton Conference Centre in Portomaso, between Sunday 28 January and Sunday 4 February.
This will be a significant edition as it will represent the 200th World Ranking Tournament sanctioned by World Snooker over the past thirty-years.
Block tickets for this 32-man eight-day tournament will go on sale as from Monday 8th January for Lm35 each and will be available from Café Veneziana in Melita Street, Valletta and from Kids’ Korner in High Street, Hamrun.
The Malta Cup 2007 comprising 36 matches will be the fourth world ranking on this year’s Main Tour calendar which so far has produced three different winners - Ding Junhui (The Northern Ireland Trophy), Neil Robertson (The Grand Prix), and Peter Ebdon (The UK Championship). Stephen Hendry and Ken Doherty winners of the first two editions will definitely be trying to win again the title but with an array of snooker celebrities, all eager to make this 200th ‘Ranking’ their special victory, a daring challenge is expected.
Meanwhile online sales for block and day tickets, which had a most positive response, will still be available through the Tournament’s website www.maltacup.org. A spokesman for Snooker Promotions confirmed that 50% of block tickets allocations have already been sold ‘online’ mainly to overseas snooker fans who will be travelling to Malta for the event.
The Malta Cup is organised by Snooker Promotions (Malta) and sanctioned by World Snooker, while the Malta Tourism Authority, Air Malta, Hilton Malta and Vodafone Malta are the Event’s main local sponsors.
