For the third consecutive year, Gerry Attricks will be presenting their annual show in aid of the Physically Handicapped Rehabilitation Fund, this year called ‘Stepping Out’. The show, which is their usual blend of song, dance, and comedy, comprises live and pre-recorded singing, as well as completely new dance and comedy routines. It is again produced and choreographed by Pat Jones and is being held on Saturday 10 March, at the Attard Parish Hall.

All the members of the cast are retired ex-pats who have made Malta their home, some of many years standing. The youngest cast member is 18 – not quite qualifying as a geriatric! A very talented young Maltese girl destined for great things will be making a guest appearance. People who attended last year’s show may well remember the appearance of Sophie and Damian. Sophie of course, went on to win the Junior Eurovision for Malta, taking part in the final in Romania. This year’s production is a good mix of well known, lively, up-beat 60s-style music and some great standard songs.

Gerry Attricks is a fully independent self-funding group, which provides its own music, costumes, props and wigs. It only performs for charitable organisations and the entire proceeds from ticket sales go to the charity concerned, as do all the profits from the raffles and refreshments. Last year’s shows raised Lm1,000 for the PHRF.

The group was very busy over the Christmas period entertaining the residents of the Senior Citizens homes in Balzan, Bugibba and Mosta and at the annual Christmas Party at Hal Far Centre for persons with disabilities, performing excerpts from its previous shows. As well as these additional performances, the group members continued rehearsing for their new show.
