The EU Twinning Office within WasteServ Malta Ltd is organising a workshop on the German experience of trans-frontier transport and shipment of wastes from one member state of the European Union to another and from the European Union to other non-EU countries. This is of special interest for Malta, because recycling activities in Malta are limited and most of the waste fractions currently produced locally are being exported for treatment or recycling to other countries.
The foreign speakers will share their experience gained in Germany throughout the past years. Germany has quite extensive experience in this area: importing a large volume of waste for recycling or treatment/disposal and also exporting certain waste streams to other European countries. The waste streams that will be discussed include the transport and shipment of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes.
This seminar is of particular interest and relevance to waste handlers, collectors and shippers and business and management consultants. The workshop is to take place on Thursday 11 January at the Radisson in St Julian’s at 9am.
Those who are interested may email Ms Paula Muscat on [email protected] or send a fax to 2144-1930 by Wednesday 10 January 2007.
Participation is free.
