The Employment and Training Corporation (ETC) yesterday reopened its Cottonera job centre following extensive refurbishment and modernisation of the premises which are situated within the Access Complex in Vittoriosa.
ETC chairman Michael Balzan said the first job centre in Cottonera was opened in 1999 and was relocated to its current premises in 2002. Since then, over 14,600 clients at the Cottonera Job Centre were submitted for vacancies advertised with ETC, while 500 were placed in employment.
Over 1,000 persons were referred to training programmes. Over 1,500 have registered on Part 3 of the register while another 700 clients visit the place every week to renew their registration on Part 1 of the unemployment register.
Mr Balzan stated that last year ETC carried out an extensive refurbishment project at its Valletta job centre and this year it is refurbishing and enlarging the job centre in Victoria, Gozo.
