UHM Ask MPO to take decision on permanent posts

Malta Independent Thursday, 11 January 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The Union Haddiema Maghqudin (UHM) civil servants section yesterday wrote to the Management and Personnel Office (MPO) within the Office of the Prime Minister, calling on the government to take a decision over how civil servants who are bound by a definite contract become employed on a permanent basis.

The union said the Employment and Industrial Relations Act stipulates that employees who have been on a definite contract for four years must be given a permanent post. However this applies only to private sector employees.

The UHM asked the government to define the criteria for giving definite contract workers a permanent post as soon as possible.
