Courts Hit rock bottom – MLP

Malta Independent Friday, 12 January 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 21 years ago

Malta Labour Party (MLP) Justice spokesman Anglu Farrugia said the country’s court administration is carrying out practices which are not according to the procedures stipulated in the law.

In a statement, Dr Farrugia revealed that stenographers and door-keepers are now carrying out notifications instead of bailiffs. He alleged that these practices are carried out on the instruction of the courts’ administration. He said this practice is being carried out even when notifying jurors when a jury is appointed.

The Labour MP accused the courts’ administration of losing its credibility and direction and that now it has “hit rock bottom”.
